Our aims were pretty simple - to raise funds for Myton Hospice by getting as many riders as possible sponsored to do the length of the British Isles and back - and to enjoy the journey.

In the end, Sarah, Robert and myself left Myton Hospice (Warwick) on Saturday the 6th of August 2005.
We all completed the trip and thanks to the generosity of our many sponsors, managed to raise a total of £3,385.09. This sum was split (a little unevenly) between Myton Hospice and the Coventry Myton Hospice Appeal.

If you thought about joining us, but didn't - you missed a brilliant trip!
A couple of photos at the bottom of this page show I'm not making all this up, also showing the kind of weather I was treated to!

I actually did it in "two halves" with a few days at home in between (due to other commitments) and thoroughly enjoyed it - the fact that I did most of it alone actually adding something to the journey..

I covered 2,088 miles in total (no, not the most direct route) and the Trident behaved itself throughout - even managing to somehow avoid all the speed cameras which are sprouting like weeds all around the UK!

I hope to put the details of my trip in writing someday, complete with pictures - though it's "on the back-burner" at the moment because I simply haven't the time. It has reached 11,000 words though - so there's still hope!

Should you wish to make a donation to the cause, which would be very much appreciated, please contact me and I'll let you know how to go about it

at Dunnet Head lighthouse "The most Northerly point of the UK mainland".
